Distributor-Wire-and-Cable-FAQs

This FAQ is a practical reference for electrical distributors working with DWC. It covers common questions on quoting, sourcing, shipping, documentation, and account support.

Quoting and Pricing

What is the quickest way to get a quote?

You have a few ways to request pricing, depending on the situation:

  • fastQuote Portal: Submit quote requests online anytime via fastQuote. Upload specs or drawings and note your timeline, whether that’s within 24 hours, a few days out, or for bidding. Quotes responses typically return in under 6 minutes.

  • Account Manager: If you already have an assigned Account Manager, you can call or email them directly. They’re familiar with your business and typical orders and can provide guidance or quick pricing for stock items. If you’re new to DWC or don’t yet know who your Account Manager is, you can call (888) 439-2947 or submit your inquiry through the contact form. Either option will connect you with the appropriate team and ensure your request is routed correctly.

  • Regional Sales Manager: For territory-specific questions, your Regional Sales Manager can support product selection and coordinate quotes that require additional review. Once you’re connected with your Account Manager, they’ll introduce you to your RSM as needed.

How do I get access to fastQuote?

FastQuote access is available to qualified electrical distributor customers. To request access, complete the signup form here. Once submitted, requests are typically reviewed and approved within 24 hours. If you have questions about access or need help getting started, call (888) 439-2947.

How long are quotes valid?

Quotes are valid for 24 hours unless otherwise specified. This timeframe reflects real-time inventory and pricing conditions at the time the quote is issued.

Do you have order minimums?

No. DWC does not enforce order minimums. Orders can be quoted and shipped at exact quantities without a required threshold.

What are your cut and reel charges?

DWC does not charge cut fees or reel fees. This keeps pricing consistent and quoting straightforward across stock and specialty orders.

What is your freight allowance policy?

Freight terms vary based on order size, shipping method, and destination rather than a blanket policy. Options such as freight allowed, prepay and add, or third-party billing are confirmed during quoting based on the specific shipment. For a detailed breakdown of delivery modes and shipment types, view our freight and delivery guide.

Sourcing and Product Information

Can you source wire or cable that is not listed on your website?

Yes. If a product is not listed on the website, DWC can source it through its supplier network. Share specifications with your Account Manager or submit them through fastQuote to start the process.

Who manufactures your wire and cable?

DWC works with a vetted group of domestic and international wire and cable manufacturers. Products are supplied to meet required industry specifications and certifications.

Is your material Buy American Act (BAA) or US Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant?

We are proud to be Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant, meeting the standards required for many government and federal projects. Compliance for the Buy American Act (BAA) depends on the specific cable construction. Our team is ready to confirm compliance and provide the exact supporting documentation you need during the quoting or ordering process.

Can you provide product certifications such as UL, CSA, or RoHS?

Yes. Product certifications such as UL, CSA, or RoHS can be provided when applicable. Certification documentation is available at the product level and can be shared during quoting or after an order is placed. For a deeper explanation of what these certifications mean and how they relate to code requirements, see our cable certifications guide.

Do you provide spec sheets or cut sheets?

What is the cutoff time for same-day shipping?

Same-day shipping typically cuts off at 2:30 PM local time at the shipping location for stock material that is ready to cut. Products that require custom manufacturing, twisting, or special processing may need additional lead time. Eligibility can be confirmed through fastQuote or your Account Manager.

Will I receive tracking information after shipment?

Once your order ships, tracking information is provided to support delivery coordination.

LTL shipments: Automatic tracking notifications are sent for Less Than Truckload freight.

UPS and other parcel shipments: Tracking information is available through your Account Manager upon request.

How do you handle expedited shipping or rush orders?

Expedited shipping options are available when timing is critical. Depending on the request, this may include faster carrier services or arranging dedicated hotshot delivery for urgent situations. Your DWC Account Manager can review timing, feasibility, and cost based on the specific order and coordinate the best option to meet the deadline.

What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged, short, or incorrect?

If there is an issue with a shipment, contact your DWC Account Manager as soon as possible. Calling your Account Manager directly is the fastest way to get things moving.

To help resolve the issue quickly, please be prepared to share:

1. Photos of the material and packaging, even if the damage or discrepancy seems minor

2. The order or shipment reference number, if available

3. A brief description of what arrived versus what was expected

Issues should be reported within 24 hours of delivery so the situation can be reviewed and addressed promptly. Once your Account Manager has the details, they’ll review the situation and coordinate next steps. Replacements, credits, or other resolutions are handled case by case based on the specifics of the order and shipment.

Support and Account Resources

What should I do if I have an emergency after hours or on the weekend?

Submit the request to DWC’s dedicated emergency support email address. This channel is monitored for time-sensitive needs such as emergency quotes, critical product questions, or shipment coordination that cannot wait until the next business day. Please contact your DWC Account Manager to obtain the emergency support email address. If you don’t yet have that information, call (888) 439-2947 for assistance.

Do you offer any reporting or usage summaries for my account?

Yes. The fastQuote portal is the best place to view account activity. Once logged in, you can access past quotes, orders, and total rewards points. If you need additional information beyond what’s available in fastQuote, your DWC Account Manager can help discuss what reporting may be available and coordinate next steps as needed.

I’m an electrical contractor. How can I purchase material from DWC?

DWC sells exclusively to wholesale electrical distributors and does not sell directly to contractors. Electrical contractors should work with their preferred distributor to source material supplied by DWC.
