Distributor Wire & Cable (DWC) is a leading provider of specialty wire and cable products, serving the industrial, commercial, residential, and utility markets. Since our humble, Denver, CO beginnings in 2008, DWC has been providing exceptional service, market leading innovation, and simplified solutions. This year, we’re proud to celebrate our 15th Anniversary of partnering with electrical distributors!
Over the past 15 years, DWC has grown from a small startup to a dynamic company with a national presence in the U.S. Through the years, our company's success has been due to a commitment to provide the highest level of service and value to our customers. We’ve achieved this milestone through the hard work of our valued DWC Family members and the outstanding DWC culture that we’ve all collectively built.
A DWCer who has been with the company since day-one is Robert McCord, DWC’s Director of Procurement and Global Supply chain. “We were just a few scrappy wire & cable industry veterans who recognized a better way to do business and serve electrical distributors,” explains McCord. “We started out with three things in mind. First, it was company culture. We wanted DWC to be a welcoming, collaborative place where people really wanted to work. Secondly, we saw an opportunity to move beyond some of the old school ways of our industry and deploy smart technology to make the wire & cable process easier for electrical distributors. And finally, we realized that providing an extraordinary level of service was a great way to get the attention of electrical distributors,” he adds.
As mentioned above, a key pathway to success that the founder first recognized was investing resources in software development and technology to provide customers with a better experience. These investments allowed DWC become the first company in the wire & cable master distribution space to develop a proprietary ERP system. With this platform, DWC aimed to simplify the wire & cable buying process for electrical distributors.
As Distributor Wire & Cable began to grow, focus turned to building a curated inventory profile of commercial, residential, and industrial wire & cable product groups. All the organic growth that DWC was experiencing helped the company open an amazing network of cable distribution centers across the United States. Using detailed data analysis, DWC was now able to strategically position inventory to best serve the buying habits of customers.
Throughout the remainder of 2023, we will be looking back on DWC’s 15-year journey and sharing memories, stories, laughs, and gratitude for those who’ve helped us get to where we are today. We’ve come a long way as a company and as an employee culture, and we hope to explore how we’ve evolved through the years. In addition, we’ll be looking ahead to the next 15 years and the opportunities that lay ahead for DWC and our industry.
