Distributor Wire & Cable Company hosted their inaugural Toys for Tots Drive. The event kicked off in early November 2008 with DWC pledging to donate a toy for every order they received until December 15th. After totaling the orders, DWC was able to donate over 150 toys to the Toys for Tots organization.

“The success of this toy drive was simply due to the support of our customers. We received an overwhelming response when we announced our commitment to making Christmas a little brighter for needy children. Although we had pledged to purchase the toys we had customers sending us board games and other items to add to the collection. Everyone was more than eager to pitch in and make a difference for these kids.” said Bryce Huett, owner of Distributor Wire & Cable.

Since construction usually decreases during the winter months, the holiday season is often viewed as a slow time of the year for the wire and cable industry. However during this fundraiser DWC saw an increase in sales for a variety of cablea. Orders placed for these products, and requests for striping THHN building wire, helped to contribute to this successful event.

“Part of our business model is social responsibility so contributing to charitable organizations is really a priority. The Toys for Tots Drive seemed like a great way for us to kick off the holiday season. It was something that everyone in the company was excited about. We even had employees just bringing in extra toys that they picked up during their own Christmas shopping. I think that speaks volumes to the type of people we have.” commented Sheila Gentile, the operations manager for Distributor Wire & Cable.

DWC has confirmed that they plan on participating in charitable causes several times a year. Announcements for the next fundraiser will take place in early 2009 as the company goes into its second year of business.
