If you’re familiar with DWC, you know that one of the values that we emphasize is: “Give Back, a Lot”. It is this value that drives the charitable missions that our company is involved in each year. One of these missions is the American Heart Association’s effort to help prevent, treat, and defeat heart disease.
DWC’s support of the American Heart Association hits close to home for us. In the fall of 2017, DWC mourned the loss of one of our own, Procurement Specialist, Rob Spencer. Rob had a massive heart attack after a rugby match and passed away suddenly. Rob was 31 years old, healthy, active, and as a personal trainer, he was in amazing shape. Rob’s positive energy and personality are missed
If it can happen to Rob, it can happen to anyone.
Doctors assessed that Rob’s heart attack was the result of genetics and underlying heart disease that no one was aware of. According to the Center for Disease Control, heart disease claims the lives of about 650,000 Americans each year. It’s highly likely that most who read this, have loved ones in their lives who have been impacted by heart disease. For your loved ones, and for the friends and family of Rob Spencer, DWC supports the American Heart Association.
Each year, DWC Family members participate in the Denver Heart Walk to honor Rob and raise money for the American Heart Association. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s heart walk was turned into a virtual event. We look forward to a time when we can all walk together again. We also look forward to a time when we won’t have to!
