Wire and Cable in Montana

The state of Montana is known for many types of industries including the manufacturing of raw materials from farms, forest and mines.  Many of these industries in Montana require wire and cable to operate each week.  The Montana oil pipeline is almost always in need of wire or cable with its vast reach all across the state including major Montana cities such as Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Missoula and Bozeman.

The most popular wire and cable needed in these industries are tray cable, soow cord and mining cable.  These cables are built to withstand the rugged territory in Montana to help keep their economy running strong.  Each type of cable has its strength and usefulness depending on the application.

  • Tray cable, or VNTC tray cable, is a very versatile multi-conductor product that can be buried directly into the ground and uses a tough nylon jacket to help protect it from the elements. It can also be purchased with a thermoset construction using an even tougher CPE jacket.  This is a great product to withstand an oil and gas environment.
  • SOOW cord is a flexible multi-conductor bare copper product that is used for portable power up to 600 volts.  It can be purchased from sizes 18 AWG - 2 AWG and in as many as 60 conductors  allowing the conductor to save valuable time during installation. It uses a tough oil resistant inner and outer rubber jacket to protect it from all types of elements.
  • Mining Cable is a step up from SOOW cord in terms of both size and voltage.  It is offered from 8 AWG to 500 MCM and typically will allow up to 200o volts.  DLO Cable also falls into this category but it is a single conductor product.  The most popular mining cables are Type W, Type G and Type GG-C.

While Montana is not considered a large state in terms of population, its natural resources make it a powerhouse in terms of industry.  Without the use of tray cable, soow cord and mining cable, the great state of Montana would not be able to deliver its valuable natural resources to the rest of the United States each and every year.
